Alison Smith:

Alison teaches the majority of the workshops at the Sewing School. Alison trained as a Fashion and Textile teacher and taught for many years in a large comprehensive school in Birmingham.
Alison's passion for her subject is evident in all that she teaches and her amazing knowledge of the subject - no subject is ever unanswered!!
Students are always stretched to produce their best work. Alison also teaches the majority of the City and Guilds Workshops emphasising on the technacalities of the craft.

Ruth Cox:

Ruth is a freelance tutor and writer specialising in computerised machine embroidery.
A keen sewer for over 25 years Ruth has studied pattern drafting, tailoring, couture dressmaking and embroidery.
After a career working in software, she became interested in the potential of customizing and digitizing packages to create unique embroidery designs and now teaches Janome approved courses.
She also undertakes demonstration work on behalf of Brother, Gütermann Sulky, and Madeira, in addition to writing articles for Sewing World and the US publication Sew News.
Her ambition is to help enthusiastic sewers get as much creative enjoyment as possible from their embroidery machines.

Sue Hazell:

Sue holds the National Teaching Certificate for Tutoring Adults, teaching all aspects of soft furnishings. She lectures nation-wide, training interior designers’ staff and those wishing to enter the Soft Furnishings business themselves.
She also teaches those wishing to furnish their or friends’ home & those looking for a career change, Sue also helps those looking to move on from the forces.
She runs her own Soft Furnishing Business, being a specialist in Arch Window Treatments and Loose Covers. Her approach is the easier way to make soft furnishings from low cost fabrics with emphasis on style, taking the ‘mystery’ out of working with fabrics, and also knowing how ‘Adults learn best as adults’.
